Log Splitter

Information

We stock two types of log splitter, a trailerised diesel engine powered model and a tractor mounted type which is driven by the tractor's PTO (ie. power take-off). 

The trailerised splitter is available with either a 30 tonne or 40 tonne splitting force option, and both models can split logs in either a vertical or horizontal position.  And we are pleased to be able to say that both of our diesel engine log splitters have been constructed with the strength and longevity in mind not offered by other splitters.  In particular, the I-beam is constructed of 10mm steel, the hydraulic tank has a huge 30.5 litre capacity which guarantees that the ram cylinder does not overheat even when under heavy load, thus preventing the premature failure of the ram seals. These features are further enhanced by the high capacity (ie. 60.5 Lpm flow rate) two stage pump as well as the very generous 36 A/H battery guaranteeing easy starting.  Furthermore, the powerful 11hp. diesel engine provides a very robust and reliable engine with the excellent fuel economy not offered by a petrol engine.

The second type of splitter we stock is a tractor mounted model which offers the convenience of utilising an operator's existing tractor as a power source.  The log splitter is equipped with its own hydraulic pump and step-up gearbox which is driven directly of the tractor's PTO.  The log splitter is connected to the tractor's rear three point linkage system, which allows it to exploit the mobility offered by the tractor.  The splitter is extremely well constructed, and equipped with a very strong 70mm diameter ram shaft and equallty strong splitting wedge.  The hydraulic tank contained within the I-beam is also a great design feature which adds to the compactness of the unit, and the 20 tonne of splitting force genuinely provides more than adequate power to split the largest log.
